good dj :

Osawa Shinich a.k.a.  MONDO GROSSO, a super famous dj, composer, pruducer has been playing as a DJ and setting out lots of remix works not only in Japan but worldwide.  His sound is pretty catchy and yet not too light and det är ”soft”.

DJs are quite alright in Tokyo and we also welcome many foregine artists in any genres. but the only thing about clubbing in Tokyo is that we do not have night train, night bus, no night nothing. and the taxis are expensive.

Instead of the transportations we have capsule hotel (basically a row of coffins), 24hour internet cafe (people actually started living there and it’s getting a big problem. called internet cafe refugee) , and 24hour MacDonald (the staff don’t give a shite even we sleep if we at least buy one coffee or a burger) everywhere. or, many people just keep dancing until the first train starts. and it normally takes at least 30 mins to go home, 1 hour is normal, because Tokyo is meaninglessly huge. but in total it’s fun to go out anyway.

Jag har fått reda på att Kornél Kovács (organizing FICKS på F12 och spelar ofta i Kruthuset) kommer att spela i Tokyo i December!! The Field kommer också till Tokyo i Oktober. Jag ska kolla upp och keep it updated here!

Evolving Japanese Masks

bdy0905210912010-p3

So, basically these are the normal Japanese masks. It doesn’t look familiar at all and it even looks like they are in some strange cults, but it is just a usual scene in Tokyo. I know some people from outside of Japan think this is for preventing pollutions or whatever, but it is not. We used it for not giving a cold for the other people or not to get one from the others. Especially because of the swine flu, these masks are in high demand in Tokyo.

However, it’s Tokyo. Even masks have become Kawaii ”cute” !

I think this is one of the most japanese japanese thing. and I found out Disney sells the limited edition of Disney masks only in Disneyland Tokyo which is apprently not in Tokyo at all. I will try to find them if I ever had a chance to go to Disneyland sometime soon. it looks like this :

(Debut?) Show of collage-works by Patrick Crotty (who also runs the internet-gallery *gallery nebula*). This collection includes many brand new pieces that are focused on japanese pop-culture / video games with a whimsical, ironic and tongue in cheek twist. With all the colors of the rainbone, just paper and glue and scissor-skills.

(PRE PARTY – om du kommer innan klockan sju kan du spela street fighter(m. fl.) med butikschefen och konstnären som ställer ut. kul!!
